Dr. Howie is an experienced veterinarian who graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science. He continues to learn in various veterinary fields and has further education, including a post-graduate certificate and a Master's degree in Veterinary Studies.

To further develop his clinical skills, he undertook a one-year internship in small animal surgery and medicine at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Hong Kong, learning from specialists. He was also accepted into the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in the chapter of Small Animal Surgery, and obtained a General Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Surgery by the International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies.

With practice in private clinics and animal welfare organizations, Dr. Howie has gained valuable clinical experience. During his time at SPCA Hong Kong as a Senior Veterinary Surgeon, he handled complex surgical, medical, and referral cases, and was on call for night-time emergency surgeries. His outstanding abilities earned him the title of Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Practice by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. In 2019, he returned to VSH, focusing on the role of emergency veterinarian & hospitalist, taking care of animals in critical conditions.

In 2021, Dr. Howie founded Kai Tak Veterinary Hospital, dedicated to providing high quality care and treatment for animals in Hong Kong, aiming to enhance their quality of life. He has extensive experience in various aspects of veterinary science, with a particular interest in canine and feline surgery, diagnostic imaging, and emergency medicine.

As an executive committee member of the Hong Kong Veterinary Association, he actively organizes continuing education events for veterinarians to elevate the standard of veterinary care in Hong Kong. He also engages in voluntary work, assisting stray animals and promoting animal welfare, utilizing his expertise and compassion to provide the best possible care.
